Operation Barnabas domestic teams travel within the United States and are traditionally what people think of when they hear of Operation Barnabas. Operation Barnabas International (OBI) is another type of team that builds on the training received thru OB with a special emphasis on cross-cultural ministry. Established in 2001, our Operation Barnabas International team (OBI) has traveled in Brazil, Mexico City, Thailand, and Cameroon.

Since 2010, we have been annually returning to the Philippines because of the abundant ministry opportunities that have been available to our teams. Lord willing, OBI will once again return to Boracay Island in the Philippines for 2013, with a starting date in mid-June.

OBI will begin with several days of orientation in Southern California, followed by 19-20 days in the Philippines. OBI ending dates will be scheduled to allow any team members who wish to attend Momentum Youth Conference(July 16 – 21 at Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion, IN) to arrive to their home in time to then travel and attend Momentum, but it is not included as a part of OBI or included in the support total.

At this time, the exact OBI support cost has not been determined but can be expected to be around $3900 if airfare costs continue at their current rate.

What are the benefits of OBI?

  • Ministry training and skill development
  • Emphasis on local church ministry
  • Strong adult leaders who are trained in youth ministry and cross-cultural ministry
  • The excellence and tradition of 39 years of OB training
  • The challenge to show and share the love of Jesus in another part of the world
Is this for me?
OBI is for OB alumni who:
  • Love Jesus and have been faithful in ministry since their OB experience!
  • Are interested in serving Jesus in another country.
  • How can I get selected to go on OBI?
  • OB alumni should fill out the OBI application for alumni. You will also need a reference from your pastor or youth pastor and a final church approval form. Any students who wish to be considered for OBI who have not previously gone on Operation Barnabas must fill out the standard OB application, with three references and final church approval form. First preference for OBI acceptance and participation goes to OB alumni.
  • OBI applications should be postmarked by December 31, 2012
  • OBI is a joint venture between CE National & Encompass World Partners.
